Job Description OBJECTIVES /PURPOSE The head of Structural Biology team will lead and expand an integrated and collaborative world-class research team focused on delivering therapies to patients. Director Biophysics will be responsible of delivering high-quality X-ray and CryoEM structures by combining internal and external capabilities to accelerate Takeda's drug discovery pipeline. Head of Structural Biology will collaborate across DDS and DDUs to strengthen cooperation and pursue opportunities to affect high priority programs.Head of Structural Biology builds partnerships with computation chemistry, chemistry, biophysics, in vitro pharmacology and biology teams to grow programs in all therapeutic areas. The head of structural biology helps design the team strategy, setting priorities and empowering scientists to achieve the team's goals and vision.Leadership/People:No. of direct reports: 1-2 ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Lead multidisciplinary team to accelerate high-priority drug discovery programs across all Takeda's therapeutic areas: IO/Oncology, GI/Immunology, CNS, and Rare Disease
• Deploy best structural biology strategies to support lead optimization, lead generation and candidate selection stages
• Enhance internal structural biology capabilities including instrumentation, software, computational infrastructure, databases
• Build external network to keep a pulse on latest technologies, novel strategies and partnership opportunities
• Develop teams members and project leaders
• Manage management and use of resources to maximize the team's impact on Takeda's pipeline
• Foster positive team culture and build departmental infrastructure EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS :
  • PhD degree in a scientific discipline with 10+ years experience , or MS with 16+ years experience, or BS with 18+ years experience 7 years of Industry experience required 7 years of managerial experience required
  • Expertise in Structural Biology and a track record delivering high quality structures to accelerate drug discovery programs
  • Experience using data to inform decisions, promote other's thinking and get to the root of the issue
  • Experience managing teams and lead understanding across partners
  • Functional level leadership with the ability to inspire and motivate results
  • Embrace and demonstrate a diversity and inclusion mindset and role models these behaviors
